Ready for baby

The bag is packed. The crib is ready and baby closet is stocked with clothes.  I am ready for my last baby to arrive.  This is a special baby.  One we didn't plan for and weren't expecting.  One Heavenly Father chose to send us when things were really hard.  We've struggled mightily with a name because how do you name a special baby who obviously has important things to do. 

I had a dream the other night he was a girl.  I gave all my newborn girl stuff to Rachel.  If he turns out to be a girl, he'll have no clothes.  My mom said she'd quickly remedy that if it happens.  I love my mom.  She is the person who will drop anything to be there for me with no excuses or hestitation.  I don't know what I'd do without her.

I've been so miserable lately.  In lots of pain, lots of contractions, and fierce heartburn every day.  I've been throwing up through the entire pregnancy.  Threw up this morning and yesterday morning.  I'm so glad to not be pregnant anymore.  But I will miss feeling him move inside me and falling asleep with Tige's hand on my belly. 

I'm excited to hold my last baby.  And I get to do it tomorrow morning.

It's a BOY!

I had my ultrasound yesterday and found out that sweet baby is a boy! He was wiggling and moving all over the place--it was so fun to see him move. He kept covering his face with his arm, so we had a hard time seeing his features, but finally at the end he cooperated and gave us a good look at his little face. He had his legs crossed and was just chillin & happy. I feel him move a lot, especially at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. How is it that he's managing to keep me awake when he won't be born for 19 more weeks? We're very excited--Kason was at a primary activity when we finished the ultrasound and we went and told him it's a boy. He yelled out to the whole room "my mom's having a brother!" So fun.

Fossil Fun

It's been longer than usual since I updated my blog, so here are a couple of pictures that were on my camera. We gave Kason a shark tooth fossil brick for Christmas, and he had a BLAST chipping away at the brick of sand and finding 4 shark teeth and a full shark jaw. Getting started

Mom helped the most, but dad helped a little. The fossil kit came with Kason's safety goggles. Tige's are 3-D glasses from seeing Avatar. I didn't use safety googles for a few minutes, but quickly got a piece of sand in my eye, so they were essential.

My sweet friend sent my kids a couple of pairs of matching pajamas from her kids with about the same age spread. Abby has decided she will no longer sit stil for a picture, so after about 20 pictures, this was the best one I could get. Some days I wonder where my sweet angel baby went. She's into all sorts of mischief, and she knows it--she turns and runs when she has something she knows she shouldn't have. She's also started clenching her fists and shaking & screaming to throw tantrums. Heaven help me when the new baby comes.

Speaking of new baby, I can feel him/her/it moving. I'm 16 weeks today, and have been able to feel movement for about a week, only at night when I'm laying really still in bed. I didn't feel Kason move until really late because I didn't know what it would feel like. With Abby, I thought I felt her move a little earlier, but wasn't sure because it had been a long time. This one, I'm positive. I love feeling baby move--in my opinion it's the only good part of being pregnant.

Abby's Big Announcement

Abby's shirt says "Big Sister in Training." Yep, it's true, we're expecting our third baby the end of June. I know what you're thinking...the answer is 21 months apart.

It took us several years and multiple fertility drugs to get pregnant with both Kason & Abby, so once Abby turned one, we figured we'd better get going. I was stunned when the very next month I was pregnant. This all complicated my little appendix emergency 2 weeks ago, but thankfully both baby and I are doing fine.

We're very excited, but I still find it hard to believe that it's really true!

She's Here!

She's finally here! My water broke at 6:30 on Saturday morning and we went to the hospital. The first few hours progressed quickly, but the longer it went, the slower things became. At 9:00 p.m. on Saturday I was dilated to a 9, but at 3:15 a.m. I had gone back to an 8, and the contractions were erratic--some were fast, 30 seconds or a minute apart, and then we'd go 4 minutes between. The Dr. finally called for plan B, and we did a c-section. As a result, Abby has a beautiful, round head and face. The cord was wrapped around her neck twice, so I suppose the c-section was best even though I'm hurting now. I came home from the hospital tonight (Tuesday). Tige's mom is here to take care of me this week, and my mom will come next week.
Abby latched right on to eat like a champ--I was amazed. She hardly cried in the hospital and has been sooooo precious! We are so in love. I'll load the rest of this update with pictures, as that's what I know you all want to see! Thanks for your love and prayers.

Abigail's Nursery

We've been working this weekend to get the baby's nursery in order. Everything is now put away, hung up, and ready. It's so adorable--I just love it! My mom made me 3 darling ballerina wall hangings. I can't believe the hours and hours of work. She's way too good to me. She also made me two quilts and hemstitched 2 receiving blankets with matching burp cloths. I made the little "ABBY" wallhangings, and I'm quite proud of myself since I came up with the idea in my head. They turned out really cute.

Kason's funny for the week was when I was walking into the kitchen and he said, "Mom, look at your tummy! It's HUGE! Muy Grande! You can hardly wobble!" I called Tige at work to tell him what Kason said, and he couldn't stop laughing.

I'm due in 2 weeks, but am having dozens of contractions each day and am dialated to a 2, so I'm hoping maybe it will be sooner. I'm so ready to be done. I'm tired of the aching, being uncomfortable, and especially the puking. 13 days is the longest I've gone in the last 9 months without losing a meal.

36 Weeks

Here I am at my baby shower last night, 36 weeks pregnant. I had a good time and got lots of cute, girly things. Baby Abby is due a month from tomorrow.

Baby Registry at Target

I've had several of my friends who live out of state ask me if I'm registered somewhere for baby gifts. So I registered at their request. I wanted to let everyone know that I've registered for a few "girly" things at Target. You can find the registry at Target.com and can search under my name or Tige's name. You shouldn't have any trouble finding it as long as you spell our last name right.

Grandpa Hazleton

Tige's dad, Lyon, and his brother, Calvin, came to see us the last few days while Lyon had a meeting to attend in Springdale. They spent the day with me Thursday while Tige was at work. Lyon is the type of person who won't sit still and loves doing projects, so he mowed and edged the lawn, then moved a couch for me out of the baby's room (which consisited of taking two doors off their hinges and taking the legs off the couch). Then he asked what else I had for him to do, so he and I put the crib together. I was thinking "Ah, a husband at work making money and a father-in-law here completing my honey-do list! I could get used to this." We also went up to my parents cabin at Panguitch Lake where we enlisted Lyon's help in installing crown molding in the kitchen. Is there anything this man can't do? We had a great time with Lyon & Calvin and Kason especially enjoyed playing with them.

We are getting very anxious for the arrival of our baby, which is now about 7 weeks away! I feel really nervous--perhaps because it's been so long since we had a baby. Kason prays daily that the "baby can come out of mom's tummy" and that "she'll be strong and healthy." He's too cute. I've been having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions, and we hope she doesn't come too soon . . .

On a funny note, yesterday I accidently ran into Kason, and I said "I'm sorry honey, I didn't mean to do that." And he broke into the song "it's too late to apologize, It's too late!" Tige started giggling from the other room.

Baby girl and Misc. Hazleton happenings

We've had a busy 2 weeks. Last weekend we drove down to Las Vegas for Tige's cousin's wedding. Kason stayed with my Aunt Jan while Tige & I went to the wedding. The next morning was the 4th of July, and we headed up to my parents cabin, stopping along the way to buy a huge stash of fireworks. We spent Friday and Saturday night at the cabin--we watched the fireworks at Brian Head and also had a firework party of our own. My parents now have carpet and couches at the cabin, and it is absolutely wonderful. The work is done and we now get to relax and play when we go up. We just love it.

Monday I had a Dr. appointment, and we found out the baby is definitely a girl! At first he would only give us 85% definite, but as he took measurments, he said "you guys are soooo having a girl. This is definitely a girl." She's also turned and isn't breech anymore. We're very excited to know for sure--now I can start gathering pink stuff. Tige doesn't get why I'm not willing to decorate the nursery with Kason's "blue jean teddy bear" stuff. Would someone please explain to him?

Last night my mom came down for her birthday, and we went to see Les Miserables at the Tucahan (which is an outdoor theatre). The play was absolutely wonderful, but when it started at 8:30 p.m. it was 106 degrees and at midnight when we were coming home, it was 97 degrees. Needless to say, it was a miserable 3 hours of sittting in the heat and sweating. Yuck! I'm never going there again during summer months--especially pregnant. I love my house and my air conditioning!

70% girl

I had a check-up today and the Dr. ran me into the ultrasound room to check the position of the baby and the heartbeat. It's still breech and still had it's legs together, but the Dr. said he believes he sees female parts (where the arrow is) and said he's 70% sure it's a girl! Maybe next month we'll know for 100% certain.

It's a girl . . or a boy!

We had an ultrasound today, and the kid was breech with it's legs together! Urgh! Everything looks fine, but we still don't know if it's a boy or a girl. We'll try another ultrasound at 28 weeks and see if we can tell.

BIG Hazleton News!

We have big news from the Hazletons. First, here is a picture of the house we're buying in St. George. We'll be moving into it in about 3 weeks, and we are very excited! Please come and visit.

Second, and more importantly, WE'RE PREGNANT! We're expecting our 2nd baby on September 30. We can't hardly believe it's really true. We've been trying to get pregnant for years, and have done the rounds with fertility treatments. But this happened on it's own and we're calling it a miracle. We are so thrilled.
