Just some miscellaneous pictures from around the house the last few days. Tige's mom spent a week here taking care of us. She did lots of laundry, dishes, meals, and took Abby for little outings when she needed a break. My mom came and got Kason & Abby yesterday and took them to Cedar City for a couple of days. The baby is up about every 2 hours during the night, so I am beyond tired. I have LOVED the peace and quiet during the day and have been resting. Tige came home from work yesterday and couldn't believe how quiet the house was. That never happens. My mom will bring them back tomorrow and spend a couple more days here cleaning and helping out. We're so, so thankful for our moms. We don't know what we'd do without them.

T-Ball

Admist our busy week last week with a new baby, Kason finished his last T-ball game of the season. In my opinion, baseball in St. George should take place in March & April, not May and June. It was actually painful to sit at some of his games in the 105 degree heat. But we did it and Kason had a great time. Fortunately there was a splash pad right next to the ball fields, so after each game, daddy would let Kason & Abby get wet. Kason was way too advanced for t-ball, but we stuck with the rules and he played with his grade level, and we look forward to next year when it's "real" baseball.

More Baby Taylor

Some updated pictures, and a little more info so I can remember later . . .

I was scheduled for a c-section on Wednesday, June 30. We were switching the furniture around in 3 rooms in our house to make room for new baby (office stuff to the piano room, Kason's stuff to office, and baby's stuff in Kason's old room), and we still had a a long list of things to do. We thought we had 10 more days. We spent most of Saturday moving office furniture and computer stuff into the piano room. Thankfully, we got all the furniture moved and got the computer, printer, phones, etc all hooked up. We had also made a trip to Target 2 days before to buy a bunch of baby stuff.

Sunday morning (Father's Day) at 5:30 a.m., I woke up to use the bathroom. When I stood up, there went my water. I said "Tige, my water just broke!" He groggily says "are you sure?" I'm like "uh, yes, this is the 3rd time my water has broken. I'M SURE!" We start freaking out. We need 10 more days to prepare. I have a list a mile long of things for us (my husband) to accomplish around the house. We had it all arranged for Tige to take time off work in 10 days. We had it all arranged for my mom to take the kids for a few days, and then for Tige's mom to come over the week after that. My parents were leaving to California the next day for vacation. But Taylor was sure he was ready to join our family.

We stalled until about 6:15 when we thought maybe we could start calling people and making arrangements for Kason & Abby for the day. We got them settled with our neighbors, and headed to the hospital. I had only had 2 contractions in that first hour, but on the way to the hospital (about 3 minutes away), I had 2 more. Then they started coming fast and furiously about 1-2 minutes apart and were very painful. I never even got that far with labor with Kason or Abby, and I wasn't very thrilled about experiencing it this third time when we were having a c-section. I laid there having contractions until 8:30 thinking "I'm having a c-section. I'm supposed to be skipping this part!" and then they finally came to take me to the OR. At 8:57 a.m. we had our sweet boy.

I had a good stay in the hospital. I got to take lots of naps and hold and snuggle my baby all day long. The food was fanastic! There was a full menu, and I got to call "room service" and order anything I wanted from the menu. It was almost enough to make me want to stay an extra day. Tige spent the next day or two moving Kason to a new room and setting up a crib in the baby's room. I came home on Tuesday evening and have been sleeping or nursing the baby pretty much non-stop since then. Tige's sweet mom is here doing laundry and taking care of Kason & Abby. Taylor has some jaundice, which we're watching, but he's perfect. He wants to nurse about every 2 hours, and then sleeps most of the rest of the time. He's already peed on me twice (once in the middle of the night). Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Abby has been having a struggle, and isn't quite herself these days. She's been cranky and clings to Tige. She likes the baby and wants to hold him, but she's just a little out of sorts. I hope things return to "normal" soon, whatever that is.

Cute story with this picture. I was holding Taylor, and Abby hurt herself and came crying, so I pulled her up on my lap. A minute or 2 later, I looked over at Kason who was sitting on the floor closeby, and he was looking at me with big sad eyes brimming with tears. "I said "what's the matter?" Kason said "now I can't snuggle with you." I said "come on!" So he climbed on the other side. It was fun snuggling with all 3 kids, I was just hoping nobody stepped on the incision on my tummy!

He's sweet as honey and as soft as heaven.

We can't get enough of holding him and touching him, especially his big brother, Kason!

Summer Games Olympic Triathlon

Tige ran the olympic distance triathlon at the Utah Summer Games. I didn't go to this one as it was just too darn hot for a 10 month pregnant lady and 2 little kids. Thank goodness some of his friends from the Southern Utah Tri Club took some pictures so I'd have something to post for his first Olympic Tri. (After he ran this triathlon in the morning, I made him take apart, move, and reassemble the office furniture and computer equipment at home to make room for new baby. The poor man never gets any rest, or so he'd tell you! )

The Subway

On the way home from our family reunion, Tige joined my dad, Clark & Andy to hike the infamous Subway, near Zion National Park. It's about 8 miles through narrows, water, rapelling, and climbing. It requires a reservation and a permit to hike it, so even though Tige has an Olympic distance triathlon in 3 days and feared injury, he couldn't pass up a chance to hike the Subway for the first time. Sure enough, 2 miles into the hike, he sprained his ankle. But the boys had a great time together. Apparently my dad ripped his shorts right in the backside area and there was too much to see, so they made him hike last. Andy also ripped his shorts. I'm glad Tige finally to to hike the Subway since he's been wanting to since we moved back here.

Taylor Family Reunion

We met my parents and my 4 brothers and their families at Zion Ponderosa Ranch (near Orderville and Mt. Carmel Junction) for a family reunion this week. There were 11 grandkids there (plus the one in my tummy to make his appearance in 2 weeks), 6 of whom were under the age of 2. Needless to say, there was lots of crying at various times throughout the day, but we still had so, so much fun! We rented a huge house with 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, so we all stayed there together. We ate way too much good food, and had a blast on such activities as: paintball, skeet shooting, miniature golf, zip line, bungee trampoline, rock wall climbing, kid's camp, swimming in a COLD pool, the girls having spa treatments, kids building forts, talent shows, family pictures, playing games, bike rides, and 4-wheeler rides. Just a few pictures of the highlights:

We had a talent show and Kason sang "The Star Spangled Banner" complete with his hand over his heart. The best part was when he said "Who brought stripes and brought stars...?" (instead of whose broad stripes and bright stars). Classic Kason. This kid is hilarious.

It was more like a race to quickly hit your golf ball towards the hole before Abby grabbed it and threw it. She's such a handful.

Anyway, it was so much fun to get together and visit. My kids had the time of their lives playing with cousins and being outdoors. Wish we could get together more often, although the babies are starting to outnumber the adults, and it will get harder and harder to be able to have us all in one place soon.

Tige, Clark, Andy & my dad spent yesterday afternoon hiking the "Subway" on our way home from the reunion. Tige sprained his ankle only 3 days before he's scheduled to run his first Olympic distance triahlon. Such a bummer. He got lots of beautiful pictures . . . I'll have to post them later.

I'm having daily contractions and am feeling quite miserable . . . not sure if I'm going to make it until June 30 for my scheduled c-section. Might be earlier--we'll just have to wait and see!

Sand Hollow

We spent a couple of hours today at Sand Hollow with Clark's family, David's family, Jeff's family, and my parents. It cooled off this weekend, so it was only about 75 degrees at the lake. Perfect for sitting around and visiting and not getting too hot. The water was a little too cold for me, but not for the kids. They had a ball playing with their cousins. Abby had a ball just wandering around in the sand. Clark let Kason steer the boat, so that was pretty exciting! Tige got a 1 mile swim, 15 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run while we were there. I sat in a chair like a beached whale and tried not to have to move at all. Other people went and fetched Abby for me when she wandered away. So fun to spent time together. Tomorrow Jeff blesses his new baby and then we're headed to Orderville for a 4 day reunion together.
