Easter

Easter was pretty low-key at our house this year as we were just home by ourselves. Our neighborhood does a little easter egg hunt at the park, and we've been out of town for it every year since we moved here. But this year we got to go, and it was fun to visit with friends and watch the little kids run for eggs.

I hard-boiled a dozen eggs and we went out on the patio to color them. You just can't trust kids indoors with dye--you know what I mean? Anyway, we all colored some and had fun just being together.

Taylor's favorite part about Easter has been playing with the empty plastic easter eggs. He's been scooting around chasing several of them the past few days and he just can't get enough of them!

All ready for church

Getting ready for church isn't an easy task on Sunday mornings. We have to shower and get myself ready. Nurse the baby. Feed the baby fruit. Feed the rest of us. Get 3 kids dressed. Comb kid's hair. Brush everyone's teeth and try to get their faces clean. Get my church books ready. Get Tige's lesson stuff together. Get the quiet bag stocked with snacks, cheerios, diapers, etc. You get the picture. It's a miracle we make it there each week. Tige is very helpful during this process--I'm so glad I don't have to try and get ready without him. Anyway, last Sunday we happened to be ready early. This doesn't happen often, so we took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of the kids. Can't believe how fast they are growing up!

All I want for Easter is my 2 front teeth!

Kason's 2 front teeth have been loose for quite some time. When they started bleeding yesterday while eating ice cream, we knew it was time for them to come out. So when we got home I yanked both teeth out. Kason was mostly brave and now all he wants for Easter is his 2 front teeth. He got a $2.00 bill from the tooth fairy for each tooth and looks quite adorable without them. He speaks with a tiny lisp if you're listening close, and enjoys trying to say the phrase "sister suzy sitting on a thistle..."

Family Bike Ride

Saturday we all went on a family fun ride. It's sponsored by the city rec center and the police dept. You get a t-shirt and a free helmet for the kids and bike police are there to run a safety course. We did this last year, but I was pregnant so I sat on the grass & read a book while the rest of the family went. But this year I even joined in, though I was nervous because it's been several years since I've been on a real bike. After getting the kids their new helmets, we went on a little 4.5 mile ride. Tige pulled Abby & Taylor in the trailer and Kason & I rode along. I stopped after the first 2.5 mile loop so the boys could ride faster on their 2nd loop. It was a nice morning followed by ice cream.

Kason's 2 front teeth have been loose for awhile, and eating this ice cream did them in. They were bleeding as he tried to bit the ice cream and cone, and when we got home, I yanked both teeth out!

Cousins & Lizards

Kirk & Shalisa spent a week in St. George last week. The first couple of days we had beautiful weather and the kids enjoyed being outside. They chased lizards, jumped and played on the swing set, and consumed a few otter pops. Most of the little kids were scared of the lizard, but Kason showed them how it's done. The end of the week turned cold & rainy. Tige & Kirk ran a 10k on Saturday in the rain, and finished in an impressive 50:31. We are glad they came to spend time with us.

Kason sings @ Tuacahn

The first of February Kason brought a flier home from school asking for kids to sing in the school choir with a performance at Tuacahn in April. I asked him if he wanted to and was surprised when he said yes (he didn't want to for Christmas). They had practice after school twice a week and learned lots of songs and actions. I was so excited to go see him perform at Tuacahn. When the day arrived, this is what we found... Huh??? For some reason I was thinking it would just be Kason's school perfoming. Nope. Most of the local elementary school choirs were there and at least 1,000 kids. It was chaos! Those poor teachers that tried to wrangle those kids to be in sync and be where they were supposed to be.

Each school sang a song on their own, and Kason did fabulous! He was the most animated kid in his choir and sang loud and clear. He's a rock star. Most of the other kids were kind of standing there, but he was doing the actions and doing his "cowboy bounce" like he was supposed to. I was so proud.

The concert happened to be when Kirk's famliy was in town so Shalisa and Evie came with us, along with my mom. And I of course forgot my camera, so Shalisa saved the day by snapping a few for me.

Static & Army Crawl

Abby gets serious static hair when she jumps on the trampoline. It's quite hilarious to see. I happened to get a picture of it this time. She loves to jump.

Taylor is 9 months now and has figured out an impressive army crawl. He gets around fast and looks like a little inch worm as he slithers along. This has enabled him to get into much more mischief and has me on constant alert to try and keep school papers, socks, legos, small toys, wood chips from the school playground, and other small items out of his mouth! Ugh. If only the rest of my family would see the memo to keep their bleepity-bleepity small stuff off the ground! A mother's work is never done...
