You want me to what?

Tige thinks he's going to make a runner out of me. He bought me an ipod for Valentines Day and fixed me all up with work-out music. He also bought me some cushy running socks. There's a Biggest Loser 5k race the end of March at the Biggest Loser resort here in St. George. He's signed the whole family up. We bought a double jogging stroller for the 2 kids. Tige has been dragging me and the kids down to the park, and he pushes the kids in the swings while I run/walk around the park. He's got his Garmin watch set up to beep at me for when to walk and when to run. He doesn't seem to remember that I never was a runner. Even in high school when I was in track and weighed 115 lbs, I still hated distance running. I was a sprinter and hurdler. Now I don't do anything of the sort. He's determined to make me a runner. I'm only going along because it's fun to be with him and have him "coach" me. I'll let you know if I survive the 5k the end of March. To be continued...

Hoopin it Up

Kason played City league basketball these past 2 month. They had practice every week where they would break into groups and work on fundamentals, and then scrimage a little. The very last game was a full game. He made a bunch of wild shots during this last game--Tige & I just kept looking at each other with raised eyebrows. He was a lucky shooter scoring 14 points during the 1/2 game that he played. He had lots of fun and especially enjoyed the trophy he got at the end. He's getting quite a little trophy and medal collection now. This was during warm-up. I do believe they call that a foul!

8 months!

Baby Taylor is 8 months old. We can't believe it! Where does the time go and why is it so fast? He's already getting wiggly and isn't as into snuggling as his mommy is. A few things about Taylor at 8 months: We had a rough go of starting solids at 6 months. He just wouldn't eat the rice cereal or the oatmeal cereal (even with applesauce it in). He just spit it out for the longest time. We thought he just couldn't figure out how to swallow. But after about a month of struggle we went to straight veggies, which he lapped right up. Apparently he just doesn't like rice cereal or oatmeal. He eats solids well now and loves to hold onto and chomp down Mum-Mum rice husks. He's crazy about Cheerios, but can't yet figure out how to get it from his fist into his mouth.
He's sitting up really well (except in the tub where he's all slippery), and he loves playing with toys while sitting. He has 5 teeth and quite a bite. I can see his 6th tooth bulging and it will be out any day.

Sleeps great at night and for his naps. He's a sweet boy. Enjoys being in the stroller. Church sets him off schedule because he fights going to sleep while we're there, and then it messes us up for the rest of the day. He refuses to take any shape or form of a bottle. So I'm going on 8 months of exclusive breastfeeding--never to be away from him for more than 3-4 hours. Some days (like on date night), it's a real drag that he won't take a bottle. What I wouldn't give for a free weekend...

He wants to crawl badly. He watches the kids move around and he wants to too. If he could just figure out how to get his big, heavy belly off the floor he'd be off...

He loves everyone in his family. He just beams at all of us. Here he's showing that he thinks Abby is quite a hoot.

He LOVES to pull hair. Kason lays down by him and lets him pull his short hair on purpose because he thinks it's funny. But when he does it to me at church with his vice-like death grip, it's not quite so funny. Now I remember why I cut my long hair short when Kason was a baby. Taylor also loves to pull my necklaces off at church and the occassionaly dangly earring.

Gives big, wet sloppy kisses that we love.
Can't get enough of this cute boy!

Life at Home

Life seems to be pretty quiet for us in January & February. Not much that's blog-worthy. This year Tige works both Martin Luther King Day and President's Day, so we don't even get any long weekends to do anything fun. Boo!

But for the month of February at school, Kason has been named the "Super Scholar" for his class. Each teacher in the school chooses one student whoe is the Super Scholar and another student who is the Super Citizen. Kason has been dying to be picked since September...His turn is finally here! They had an awards assembly at school, which his teacher called and invited us to as he'd be getting a certificate. I dragged Abby & Taylor there at 12:30 and tried to keep them both quiet and still as we listened to about 25 teachers stand there and tell traits about their 2 chosen students. And the 1st grade went last!!! Ugh. It was 45 minutes long. I couldn't believe that they expected 500+ students to sit in the hard tile floor for that long and listen quietly. That being said, we're proud of Kason. He's a great kid who is a great reader, amazes me with his math skills, and makes friends daily.

Last weekend Tige helped Kason & Abby make a fort in Kason's room to sleep in together. I didn't think this was a wise idea because Abby is still in a crib and I feared she'd be up 30 times in the night. Tige promised he'd be the one getting up with her (yeah right, he doesn't hear children in the night...), so we tucked them in under the fort with their pillow pets. I expected them to visit and giggle for a long time, but amazingly they went right to sleep. It was fun for them, except Kason did report that Abby kept saying his name in the early morning hours--trying to wake him up I guess. Here's a picture I snapped as they were going to sleep.
