St. George Marathon

On October 2 I ran my first marathon. At 430 in the moring I took a bus to Central Utah along with 6000 runners. It was the hottest marathon in St. George history, and I definitely felt it! I went out faster than I should have, and even though I was ahead of my goal pace by the half way mark, I started getting queasy and a bit dizzy. I set many goals, but the main one was just to finish. At mile 18, I decided to be smart and not kill myself--this was supposed to be fun right? I was determined to make my goal, so I slowed it down a lot and enjoyed the experience. 4 hours and 50 minutes after the gun went off I crossed the finish line. It was great to see Julie & Kason in the last 100 yards. I went over and gave them a hug, and I would have stayed right there but Julie told me to get going, so I did. At the finish line I scarfed down a blue bunny ice cream which I absolutely earned! After a few days of shuffling around like an old man, I'm finally feeling okay and am already making plans to run next year's marathon with Kirk!

Hugs from Kason
