Kason go boom...

Today has been quite a day. When I went to get Taylor out of bed, he was covered from head to toe in what I thought was poop, but turned out to be puke. It was everywhere--in his hair, on the sheets and crib rails, blankets, even between his toes. These are the times when I miss Tige the worst while he's at work. Anyway, I bathed him and cleaned him up and fixed breakfast.

Fast forward an hour later, I get a call from Kason at school who is crying hysterically. Said he got hurt playing tag and his lip is bleeding and his tooth got bent. He asked me to pick him up. I strap the kids in the car and when I go to start the car, it's dead as a doornail. Dang kids always leave the lights on.

I call the school back and talk to Kason and the secretary. I'm hoping he'll just stay (it can't be that bad, right?), but he's insistent that he "needs me." So I bundle the kids up and we walk down to get him. I took an ice pack and some tylenol, and my plan was to ice the fat lip, get him some tylenol, and have him stay to school. But I took one look at his lip
and his teary eyes, and checked him out. We got home and I investigate further. His lips are bleeding in a few places and are the puffiest lips I've ever seen. But worse than that, his front tooth (which is a permament tooth), is really loose, is bleeding quite badly, and is pushed way back in his mouth so that he can't even bite down because it's pushed back behind his bottom teeth.

I text my friend Jena to ask if she can jump my car, but she's gone for at least an hour. I call my Uncle Dan's dental office and ask if we should come in? Can they do anything for that? She said yes, bring him right in. I said "uh, my car is dead. I'll be in as soon as I can find a jump." The sweet nurse says she'll drive to my house and jump my car herself! I took her up on it because I was feeling deserate. Then she took Kason to the office with her so they could get started on his tooth repair. I call my other friend Kristal and ask if her daughter will come and babysit Abby & Taylor, which she does.

I head to the dental office, and they have xrayed the tooth roots and are accessing the damage. He thinks the tooth will live but needs to be braced so it doesn't fall out. So they glue a wire across his front 4 teeth the best they can since some of the teeth are missing or barely growing in. He needs to keep that on for 2 weeks to try and keep that tooth.

He's a trooper! Ugh! It's been quite a day. I'm thankful for my sweet husband who is such a good listener and a shoulder for me to cry on during stressful situations like this. And my mom who is always there too. And I've had a friend (Sara) call and offer to take Abby, another friend (Heather) call to see if there was anything she could do and offer us a ride, and another friend (Jena) who insists on bringing us dinner tonight. I'm a lucky girl to have so many people care about us!
