Life at Home

Life seems to be pretty quiet for us in January & February. Not much that's blog-worthy. This year Tige works both Martin Luther King Day and President's Day, so we don't even get any long weekends to do anything fun. Boo!

But for the month of February at school, Kason has been named the "Super Scholar" for his class. Each teacher in the school chooses one student whoe is the Super Scholar and another student who is the Super Citizen. Kason has been dying to be picked since September...His turn is finally here! They had an awards assembly at school, which his teacher called and invited us to as he'd be getting a certificate. I dragged Abby & Taylor there at 12:30 and tried to keep them both quiet and still as we listened to about 25 teachers stand there and tell traits about their 2 chosen students. And the 1st grade went last!!! Ugh. It was 45 minutes long. I couldn't believe that they expected 500+ students to sit in the hard tile floor for that long and listen quietly. That being said, we're proud of Kason. He's a great kid who is a great reader, amazes me with his math skills, and makes friends daily.

Last weekend Tige helped Kason & Abby make a fort in Kason's room to sleep in together. I didn't think this was a wise idea because Abby is still in a crib and I feared she'd be up 30 times in the night. Tige promised he'd be the one getting up with her (yeah right, he doesn't hear children in the night...), so we tucked them in under the fort with their pillow pets. I expected them to visit and giggle for a long time, but amazingly they went right to sleep. It was fun for them, except Kason did report that Abby kept saying his name in the early morning hours--trying to wake him up I guess. Here's a picture I snapped as they were going to sleep.
