End of Kindergarten

School is over and we are SAD! Kason has loved kindergarten so much! Monday night was the awards ceremony at his school, and he was one of only 2 kids in his class to get the "Radiant Roadrunner" award, which is an award students must earn in each grade by meeting certain requirements. Kason had to do such things as: turn in 100% of his homework and 100% of his reading charts, be able to write all uppercase and lowercase letters, know the sounds of all the letters, write numbers 1-30, count to 100 by ones, fives, and tens, know his address, phone number, birthdate, etc. He was excited to get his very own medal, just like his dad's triathlon medals!
Tuesday the kindergarten put a little program where they recited poetry and sang songs. I should shoot myself for not bringing my flip camcorder along because it was PRICELESS. Kason knew every word to every song, sang loud, and was such a cute little ham. So we'll settle for some pictures and my recollection of some of the songs. Tige took the day off work to be able to attend this program, and it was so worth it. Kason was adorable.
I am special, I am me. I have two hands, two eyes to see.
A nose to smell, my ears hear well, a mouth to talk and two legs to walk.
But that's not all because you see, I am special, I am me.
When you're feeling kind of blue, and you want to feel brand new, S-M-I-L-E Smile!
and
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me. . .

The ink is black, the page is white, the whole world looks upon the sight.
A child is black, a child is white, and together they learn to read and write.
A beautiful sight, and now a child can understand that this is the law of all the land...
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away.
Kason pointed at us when he said "how much I love you" and smiled and sang so sweetly, he nearly had me bawling.
Lollipop, lollipop, oh lolli, lolli, lolli, Lollipop. 'POP'

Ashton, Trinity & Kason
(After the program Trinity's mom asked for a picture with these two boys. This is our little letter writer from my last blog post. She's written Kason about 7 letters in the past 4 days of school. She has a beta fish named Kason and wants to go on a date).

Kason's teacher, Mrs. Bruschke.
His words, "I love that she's nice and she's a great teacher. She cares for us, and she give us recess. And I like that she's beautiful."

Kason better put on a performance for us at the cabin! We're pretty excited to spend the weekend with the Hazletons.

Way to go Kason! Sounds like he's more than ready for first grade.
