Here Lizard, Lizard

I was in the garage today, and I happened to glance into a small garbage can by my car, and there was a lizard! I tapped the garbage can to see if it was dead, and it started running around, but it couldn't get out. Eeeek! I'm not a lizard, spider, snake kind of mommy. I called Kason out to see it, and he of course thought that was the greatest thing to ever happen to him.

I took the garbage can to the back yard, and told him he could look at it until dad came home to see it. A few minutes later, he walks into the room carrying the lizard by the tail and asks me to take a picture! I freaked out ... "Get that bleepin lizard outside! You may NOT bring it in the house." I'm currently having spine chilling thoughts of this lizard running around loose in my house and climbing in my bed. Or my baby's crib. Nasty. Anyway, Kason has been looking at it for the past several hours--giving it grass and rocks for his "home" in the garbage can. He wants to keep it forever as a pet. Hmmm. What do lizards eat?

Anasazi Valley Petroglyphs

Yesterday we drove past Santa Clara and Ivins to Anasazi Valley to hike to some petroglyphs my mom saw in the newspaper. We hiked up to the ridge line where there were large black rocks with tons of petroglyphs. It was fun to climb around in the rocks, and you'd suddenly turn a corner and there was a rock full of writing.

We sunscreened the kids good, but forgot about the back of my neck. Ouch. I burn so easily.

Kason picked me some pretty wildflowers and also found some "cool rocks" for his collection. Here are some pictures from the hike:

Managed to find some shade for a snack.

Getting in "shape"

Tige took Kason jogging around the neighborhood this morning, and while they were at it, Kason said "why are we doing this dad?" Tige said "to get in shape." Kason said, "so if we don't jog our heads will be square?"

That kid is seriously hilarious!

Kason's Talent & Abby's 1st Swim

We've had a very full and fun day today. This morning our ward had a Primary Talent Show, and for Kason's talent he told jokes. He's quite a ham as you can see from the video below. Then we went with Clark's family to the Kite Festival (along with about 10 million other people). After the kite festival, we were hot, so we went to our gym for a swim. It was Abby's first time swimming, and she loved it. The outdoor pool was just a little cold for my taste, but the indoor pool was perfect! After she swam, she curled up and went to sleep. Such a sweetie!
This outing brought back lots of memories of Kason's first swimming outings in Virginia in the same little inflatable boat with my friends Stacy & Shannon and their boys. I sure miss them.
Just chilling in in the pool

First time in the outdoor pool with Mr. Snorkel and Daddy.
She's starting to say "da da da da" a little bit.

Not sure who enjoyed snuggling in the pool more, me or her.

Easter Fun

Most people go someplace warm for Easter and Spring Break. Not us—we headed to cold, snowy Monticello to visit Tige’s family. This is what it looked like out the Hazleton's back window when I woke up on Easter morning.

Here are some highlights from the trip:

The kids before church on Easter morning.

Tige’s brother Kirk blessed his new baby at church. We were so glad we could be there.
Braxton, 2.5 months & Abby 6.5 months

Friday we frosted sugar cookies and colored eggs with Grandma, Evie & Teina

Sunday afternoon we were surprised with a visit from an Easter Bunny. Tige’s mom also had a spectacular Easter egg treasure hunt for the kids where they all got summer clothes and bubble wands.

Saturday we went out to an Easter outing with some of Hazleton’s friends. Tige and Kason rappelled, we had a huge BBQ lunch, and an Easter egg hunt for the kids where there was so much loot they all made out like bandits. Here’s a video of Tige rappelling.

On the way home Monday, we stopped at Arches National Park for a hike. We hiked Delicate Arch, the “world’s most famous arch” as the map said. Kason & I were huffing up the hill, but even though Tige was carrying Abby, he never even broke a sweat. It was beautiful and fun, but made for an extremely long day as we had a 6 hour drive on top of that.

I’m still not unpacked but yet I’m downloading pictures and updating my blog. Priorities right?

Hitting Fun

video

I was just downloading a group of videos from my Flip. This video was taken about a month ago (I'm way behind). I had to get after Tige for teaching my sweet kids bad things, but it's too cute not to share.

Family, Teeth, Primary

Why is life so crazy busy right now? I'm having trouble finding the time to blog. We've had family here for 3 of the last 4 weeks (I guess that explains the busyness). Tige's mom and sister first, then 2 weeks later Tige's mom and dad came for a week. His dad was in meetings, while his mom and I spent the week shopping, playing games, making cards, and just had fun visiting. Then last week, all of my family was here at one time or another. We had a big family dinner at my house on Thursday with every one minus David's family, who came the next day. We had great food and great fun. Saturday when David was here, we went over to Clark's house and had an early Easter egg hunt in the back yard. The 5 kids had a blast finding eggs. Luckily we had the smarts to label the eggs with the kid's initials which prevented any meltdowns and catastrophies since they only got the eggs with their initial on them. This weekend we're off to Monticello for Easter.

Also, I have a new job at church--I'm the primary secretary. That's right up my alley--the typing and organization stuff, and I can keep an eye on Kason at church. I've been typing lots of lists, schedules, and rosters lately. I sometimes miss the pre-kid days when I was an awesome legal secretary so this will help me get my typing fix.

Abby has 2 teeth. Her first one appeared on Monday, March 23, and her 2nd last Friday April 3. She has started eating solids. She likes the rice cereal ok, but looks at me as if I'm crazy when I try to give her vegetables or fruits. (I had to read a book about how to start the solids--it's been so long since I did it with Kason I couldn't remember anything. How quickly we forget).

Kason has been learning about the body at preschool and brought home a little homemade medical kit. (Some things were "real" and some things were "fiction.") He was pretty excited to learn that his daddy uses the things from his kit everyday at work. Only about 6 more weeks of preschool. He'll be bummed when it's over--he loves it (so do I!)

Tige continues to workout several times a week at the gym, and the inches and pounds continue to melt off him. He's been saying the word "triathalon" a lot lately. Sounds like he might be doing one in 2009.
